How to set the AmericanDJ VMS4 so that it works perfectly with UltraMixer?

The American Audio VMS4 is a combination of hardware mixer and MIDI controller, which means it sends midi commands to control UltraMixer, but simultaneously processed the incoming analog audio signals. To make best use of these features in UltraMixer in connection with the VMS4, we recommend the following settings:

1. set VMS4

Adjust the control on the front of your VMS4 as follows:

8 OUT
CH1/CH2/CH3/CH4: USB
CF A assignment: CH2
CF assign B: CH3

2. Speaker Configuration

Windows:
1 Install the ASIO driver from the manufacturer’s website: www.vms4dj.com/downloads.html

Mac OS X:
1 Open the program "Audio MIDI Setup".
2 Choose from the device "AUDIO VMS4 MIDI DEVICE".
3 Click on the button "Configure Speakers".
4 Choose "Multiple channels" and "7.1 Rear Surround".
5 Click on "Finish".

3. Audio settings UltraMixer

The audio settings of UltraMixer (Settings => Settings => Audio) you should Adjust as follows:

Cue Player: VMS4 side (channel 4 on the VMS4)

4. MIDI settings UltraMixer

Choose the VMS4 in the UltraMixer "Midi" settings and activate the option "external hardware mixer use".

5. way of working

You now have set UltraMixer and the VMS4 optimally. The two players of UltraMixer are now on the VMS4 channels 2 and 3, which you can control by cross fader. You control the audio output level, gain and 3-band EQ, directly at the VMS4, the corresponding controller in UltraMixer remain unchanged and should be pre-set to 100% or 0.

To Preview the songs you can use the CUE buttons on the VMS4.

The PFL Player of UltraMixer is on channel 4 , this is why you should pull down the volume control of channel 4 to 0.

The sampler is applied to channel 1 on the VMS4.

We wish you so much fun with UltraMixer and the American Audio VMS4!
